Call For Proposals

Showcase your research, projects, ideas, and successes at this FREE, on-campus professional development event co-sponsored by MSU Denver and the e-Learning Consortium of Colorado.  The program committee invites your brief proposals for presentation at the one-day symposium. The easy, online, submission deadline is Friday, September 20, 2013. 

 

Proposal Requirements

  •  Title :: A short 7-10 word title designed to attract the attendees’ attention;
  •  Abstract :: A brief (50 word) description of the session;
  •  Description :: 300 words or less that will be posted online for the audience to review prior to the conference.

 

An Effective Proposal Includes:

  • An accurate description of the session;
  • Evidence that the presentation demonstrates a clear link between teaching, learning, and technology;
  • If a specific technology is presented, address the ease of use/adoption and/or applicability to multiple disciplines;
  • Succinct information about what participants will learn, how they will be actively engaged, or actionable outcomes.

     

Possible Content Topics/Themes

  • Accessibility and Technologyideas include: Creating Accessible Course Material, Metro State's ADA mission, Assistive Technologies, Campus Resources, etc.

  • Tips & Trends for 21st Century Pedagogyideas include: Online Pedagogy, the Blended/flipped Classroom, Strategic Assessment, Project-Based Learning, etc.

  • Classroom Tools/Technologies to Increase Student Engagementideas include: iPads in the classroom, Clickers/polling, Google Docs/Forms/Sites, Web 2.0 tools, Lecture capture, Smartboards, Second Life - Roadrunner Island, etc.

  •  The Mobile Campusideas include: Apps Roundup, Cloud Resources, Maximizing Social Media in the Classroom, etc.

 

 

Session Types & Times

  • All sessions will be 50 minutes and begin on the hour.
  • Schedule outline (a detailed schedule will be available in September)

 

 

Acceptance Notification

All submitters will be notified by email regarding acceptance or decline of their proposals. Session descriptions will be posted online for advanced preview by attendees.

 

A projector, VGA cable, basic classroom tech support and Internet connectivity will be provided in each session room. The Symposium for Teaching and Learning is a BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) event, however please contact a member of the conference planning committee should you have questions.
